When the car is at idle....lights flicker...

I was chilling with a friend of mine last week...and he noticed that when the car was at a stop the lights in the car (speedometer, ring around the key hole, clock, etc.) just kinda started to fade away and then come back to normal. When I got off from work last night...my car was at idle while i was talking to someone to warm the car up. I noticed at the corner of my eye that the ring light around the key hole was flickering.

I dont know what the problem is exactly. Im thinking I should replace the alternator, and just get a yellow top optima battery.

Id appreciate the help. Thanks in advance.

man my car does the same thing ive wondered about that too, when the car idles all the lights fade in and out even the headlights.i just decided im going to get a yellow top cause i know my battery is old and i figured that is what was causing it.

Maybe the ELD system is failing? Alternator is a good first check though.
