First off, this is my first post after weeks of lurking the forums. Second off, I've found a problem with my newly acquired 91 CB7 DX that I bought from Nutbucket. I work at a Mazda dealership and I got my car on the lift in the service department since they're closed on Sundays. Well, after spraying the entire end in purlple stuff degreaser and spraying it down, I saw that the passenger side CV/Axle boot thats closest to the wheel had cracked open from what appears to be old age. It looks like an old crack. Also the bracket from my right sway bar has cracked too. The sway bar isn't as serious as the CV/Axle boot. How much is it to replace it and get it fixed? I geta hefty discount on parts and labor at work.

Well, the cv boots are commonly replaced. If it's still packed with grease you may just replace the boot. If it's in bad shape, replace the axle.
As for the sway bar...I assume you mean your front sway bar, and by bracket do you mean bushings? You can buy new bushings and replace them. I recently did mine because my old ones were cracked, split, and wasted. I replaced them because they would knock when going over bumps. It also improved their performance.
Sway bars come in front and back, not left/right. Maybe you're thinking of something else. Also, you can't use mazda parts on a Honda. If you're referring to something else, please be more precise/clear.Last edited by accordaffair; 08-07-2005, 10:56 PM.

i try to just smile, and say everything’s fine.

Is it just the bushings (like rubber spacers) or is there some metal broke? Bushings can be replaced. And if the cv boot is still packed with grease, like in an early stage, then the cv joint is probably not damaged yet. In that case you can buy a cv boot (should come with new grease) and replace it. It requires removing the axle in question.

The sway bar links to the suspension via a bolt with bushings, washers, and a metal spacer. Sorry that I can't seem to figure out which part exactly you mean, but using the above picture you can tell us/me precisely which part broke.

Oh. That's a strange part to break...well, they're $5.64 from www.hondaautomotiveparts.com , BRKT, FR. STABILIZER, Honda part number 51308-SG0-020

90 for 3 hours... no.. they gave you a good deal. Would have been about 180-270 for 3 hours of labor. Most likely more towards the 270 end. Hopefully the joints werent all dirty and contaminated. The way I see it, spend 60-70 dollars per side on an axle from autozone, break it, you take it off, get a new one. Lifetime warranty means your good to go
