getting slower?

it is weird, a couple months ago at around 3k rpm in 2nd gear...i would top out around 30mph. now that my car is running good, it is only at 25mph and i have noticed my car having really high revs on the highway (ie: 65 and going 2500rpm in 5th)

i recently replaced the upper and lower plug seals and the valve cover gasket. in the cylinder#1 (the one closest to driver's side?) it has tons of oil in it liek a puddle forming in the chamber. i dont know if i did the seals right or whatnot but ill check that 2morrow.

ANYWAYS, i also thinkit might be a exhaust leak because i still have power and am getting good mileage but i also read that backfiring is from an exhaust leak and i do backfire when i let off the gas when in gear.

im thinking the leak is in the dc header...

what do you guys think?

you know...you kinda are right because i find that whenever i am kinda on it and i shift gears, the revs pop up a bit (like a couple hundred)

im doing the clutch starting monday, i cant wait

well, today it went back up to 30mpg when i top out at 3k in 2nd gear. i really think it has to do with a bad ground or connection because sometimes my spedo will jump and i get extremely low idle...kinda like someone disconnected my battery.

For some odd reason, I'm thinking distributor. I think this because I saw before in a girl's car, surging idle rates, loss of responsiveness, etc. Don't quote me though.

Also, if you just did your seals (upper and lower) and vcg, why is it still leaking? Strikes me as odd, and I will check my chambers as well tomorrow, because my car is getting slower as well. And I have an exhaust leak too bro!

my dizzy is new AND oem...lol. my dad paid over 400 dollars for that piece of shit so it better work. but really, my car has been runnign so much better and more efficient after having the new dizzy in.

i think the oil was from when i changed my valve cover, i re-used the silicone gasket (because it was only on for a week b4 i put on another valve cover which looks really pretty)

the NGK platinum plugs help me start the car faster though
