    Anybody run synthetic tranny oil?

For those of you who run synthetic transmission oil, what do you run, how long have you been using it and how do you like it/any problems. I figure if using synth is good for my engine, why not use it in the gear box?

I dont know but HONDA ATF for ATF. I am not sure bought manual transmission though.

For my other cars, I am going to RUN AMSOIL ATF, and or MOBIL 1 ATF. I heard many good things bought those 2 and will give it a try on my nissan. Previous owner had the car on all SYN, so I want to maintain it that way.

        I've tried (1-10 scale)

        MTF:

        Synchromesh by GM - 8 -
--shifted nice, but was expensive. average in cold weather

        Castrol 10W30 - 2 -
--shifted hard and was noisy. SUCKED when freezing out. had to stop almost completely to put the car in 1st when it was really cold.

        Honda MTF - 10-
--truely the best i've had. crisp shifting, quiet and shifted extremely smooth when cold.

        ATF:

        Mobil 1 fully synthetic ATF - 8 -
Made a noticible improvement to shift quality. After 12,000 miles, started shifting harder. Seemed like it lost its original quality fast, but still a good ATF.

        Honda ATF - 10-
--Once again, the best. Just switched from the Mobil 1 to Honda and it shifts like a brand new car again. Quiet and smooth.

        Some Auto-Zone standard crap - 3 -
--Made somewhat of a difference but quickly degraded. Was only $3 a quart or something, but no way was it worth it.

I've mentioned at least five times (maybe it's four, shoot me if I'm wrong) that redline > *. People keep raising threads about what oil is the best so I keep answering.

the dealer. and supposedly, it is the ONLY tranny fluid that should touch your honda. alot of the mechanics around here won't drain or service hondas unless they have the fluid on hand.

I ran Redline MTL for a few months, then it got cold out. Redline is definately not the best in cold weather. Switched to Honda MTL, and it's much better overall.

put it this way, the day you dont' own a honda, is the day you should be shopping for manual trans fluid or atf, u get the idea..

                          honda stick w/ honda...
                          hahahahah

Hey SteveB, any chance you can show me those pics of those blown transmissions? I'm curious to see... Doesn't make sense...anyone that knows me personally knows the level of utmost abuse and thrashing I've subjected engines and transmissions to with Redline in them and they've still survived without damage...

i think you should only run 5w30 in the tranny.. someone correct me if im wrong but i was told so.

and yeah manual trannies can use motor oil..
