    re:dizzy question?

There's a leak coming from where my distributor bolts to the head, so i'm thinkin that my o ring on the distributor is bad and just needs to be replaced! The thing is i'm not sure how hard it's gonna be cause i don't know if i have to do some timing thing when i put it back on, i'm gonna try anyways, but was wondering if i have to do anything when i put the distributor back on? I have the Chilton and Hayes manuals, but just wont to check with you guys cause i don't know much, but i'm not gonna pay some place to do somethin that's probably easy! Well any info would help!
    Thanks

just mark were the distro is locaded pertaining to the 3 bolts ( thats what controles the spark timing on your vehicle) and when you put it back on just line up the marks and you should be fine ...

I'm assuming you have an F22...

The dizzy is set up so you can't put it in backwards, so all you'll need to do is set the base timing when you get it all back together. I'm not sure if you have the blue connector for pulling codes on your 90, but on my 93, I have to jump the connector (check engine light comes on) and set the timing to 15BTDC at idle, then unplug the jumper and let the ECU do the rest. If you need a hand (or a timing light), I could probably cruise down to Motown on Saturday. Let me know...

Oh, and are we still on for the Modesto minimeet on Friday?

What i meant was, do you have to set timing when you take your distributor out to change seals, or replace cap/rot, etc ??
            hahahahah

I've done this. Changing the O-ring is cake. Yes you do have to reset the timming afterwards.

it controles the timing by shifting it foward and back when you losen the three bolts it avances the timing when shifted back retard when shifted foward (some one corect me if im saying it backward) so you whant to mark were its at now so when you put it back together you set it exacly the whay it was befor you started ... unless you have a timing gun to manually set it with ...

Well I kinda get what u guys are sayin! I bought a factory o-ring today, so I'm hopen to do this, but I wont be able to start my car for like a week (whatin for another part to put on), so I don't know! Thanks for all ur guys help! I think I'm just goin to unbolt it(the three bolts after I mark it) then do my business and bolt it back up! It just sounds so much better, but if ya guys can explain it like you would to a girl(but I'm a guy, so don't think I'm changin over or somethin, still a guy) or somethin that would help me right know cause I gotta a lot of crap goin on, so thanks!
