my oil pan gasket on my 97 accord seems to be failing really bad, so I'm going to replace it with a honda oem gasket. Any advice on what else to do with the pan off?

You could replace the downpipe gaskets since if they havent been taken apart in a while, they might just tear or leak after you put them back together. Other than that you should be good, just remember that the oil pan nuts/bolts only take 9ft/pounds.. just tighten them up snug, they dont need much. And use some of the silicon sealant on the corners.

Just make sure you remove all the little metal rings off the studs once you pull off the old gasket or the new gasket will leak like hell. Also check for other possible leaks, i.e. rear main, oil pressure sending unit, and cam seal.00 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.7 V8 4X4
