    wiring disaster need help!

i am now trying to sort out the previous owners wierd wiring. there are connectors and old wiring everywhere in my 91 ex. the big problem is that after letting my buddy try to install my cd player, my indiglo gauges and clock have stopped working. all other electrical stuff works fine.. the speedo, gas gauge, tach etc all work the guages just don't light up anymore..

under the dash there are the wires coming from the guage faces that look ok, they come down to a little blue box, from there there is a couple wires coming out of the blue box. one ends up being hooked into a fuse in the interior fuse box.. the other (black) wire goes into the cd player/hole.. there the wire goes into a connector and is split into 2 black wires both leading to nothing..i don't know if my buddy has cut out a second box while trying to clean up the wiring mess or what..

    any suggestions??

First check fuses for the lights that dont work. And that wire that goes into the cd player hole....all I can think of is the illumination wire, maybe the gauge is hooked up to that so that it can dim when the headlight is on.

yea i've checked all the fuses..twice..yea the wires coming from the actual guages go into the blue box, coming out of the blue box are a couple wires that go to the knob to adjust green-blue and dim them...then there is a red wire that runs down and into a fuse in the fuse box... the last wire is the black one running cd player hole.. and for some reason it is going into a conector and coming out as to black wires not hooked up to anything..

i'm trying to figure out if there used to be another blue box there..or if its a ground or what...

If it's a black wire, I would say that it is most likely a ground. No ground, no lights. Follow the black wires all the way to the end of all of them. If they're not hoooked to anything, hook them to a ground.
