I'm seriously wondering if my car will make it through DEQ, I have a 90 accord with a JDM H22 swap with a chipped p28 ecu. Everyone is telling me that a majority of the JDM engines automatically fail emissions. I am in WA, does anyone live around here that has made it through DEQ and what happens if it doesn't pass??

you can't get your registration without a passed smog.
Also, the jdm engines CAN pass the actual emmisions test, it's just the visual test that automatically fails it.
If i were you i'd put all the emissions stuff back on it, and put stock computer on it, then take it to some dumbass that doesn't know your engine isn't stock.
If they say it won't pass, just take your car somewhere else, untill you find the retard that will let it pass visual.Noobie my ASS.

There is no aftermarket parts on my car except for the motor, and unfortunatly I don't have a stock P13 to throw in there. The P28 ecu I have disabled the egr valve I believe so I think in that case I won't pass emissions for sure. I wish someone had gone through this in WA so they could give me a few pointers.

a check engine light is also auto fail.
like i said above, find the dumbest person, who won't know your motor is aftermarket. IE- chevy mechanic!

Let us know how things turned out! I'm in Jersey, where the emissions laws are pretty strict as well... I got my car inspected just before my swap. It was good for 2 years, but I'm approaching the end of year 1 quickly! All I have is an intake and an exhaust (with a cat) along with the JDM H22. I still have the stock ECU.
Also, is getting a chipped P28 really worth the money? I've been thinking about it...

Well since mine has never worked right I can't tell you, but I have a feeling I'm going to have to get a P13 ecu here in a few days if I don't pass DEQ. I'm sure the chipped P28 is fine and most people like it, but mine isn't sending a good signal to my vtec solenoid so it always throws a CEL. But make sure you know who you're getting it from the guy I bought it from is hard as hell to get a hold of and is a big pain in the ass.

JDM engines will pass emission just make sure you have all your paper work and stuff with you incase they check. im not totally sure it will pass with the p28 but give it a shot what will happen if you fail. there are always ways to get around it. In NJ we just get reject stickers when we fail and have to come back in 45days. NJ is supposed to have the second toughest inspections next to californa form what i have heard(not totally sure on that) but my car passed as it sits.cb7 sold

And I might be in trouble. I never got paperwork with my engine! I should probably call Steve at HMO and see if he has anything on file! Of course, I could probably find some shady shop that would push my car through. Or buy an F22 engine, swap it in, get inspected, and swap it out again. Pain in the ass, but I'd be good at swaps by the time I was done!
