Beam RR

Yep, Engine bay rear cross beam, I bent it. I've got it ALMOST out, but I can't figure out what's still retaining it. I spent until 2am last night trying to figure out what the hell was still bolted up to it... but so far we've had no luck.

The mounting bolts, rear engine mount, power steering rack, steering column shields, etc. are all out, but for some reason the beam is still in there quite solidly.

Does anybody have any ideas as to what could be the culprit? If anyone has a HELM I would be your friend for life if you'd post the removal procedure as my Chilton's doesn't cover it.

ya know,i just thought i would let ya know,chiltons kinda sucks,i have had some problems actuallt quite a few problems that chiltons has not been able to help me with they suck,i am gonna by a haynes manual my friend has one and i use that more than my chiltons,just thought i would let you know.

Yeah, Chiltons does suck, so does Haynes. You really don't need much more than a torque chart for most jobs (minus things like timing belt, etc), hence the usefulness of bad manuals, but, well, I'm stuck with this one.

Well, the fucker's out. A few hardlines from the power steering, which I guess I'm not keeping , and a steering column yoke bolt later it dropped right out. Unfortunately I had previously pulled the steering rack resistance bolt, which may not be so fun to put back in and adjust properly, thinking that it was the yoke bolt.

Can't go undo damage, though... so I'll deal. Here are pictures from the past 2 nights of after-work car labor. I'm the redhead, the other guy is my completely indispensable best friend who deserves many cases of beer for all the labor he's helped me out with over the past 6 months.

I'll post updated news and pictures as we install the new beam, when I get it. You may catch, from the pictures, that the beam Honda sent me is the right part, but from a different car. Oh well, can't with them all... so we'll commence with the Return-Red-Tape.

bro, get a Helms manual its alot better than Haynes

Yes, I do realize that a HELM is a dedicated shop manual and that a Haynes is a poor exucse for a DIY'er manual. But, like I already said, most jobs just need a torque chart. Do you really need a manual to tell you how to change a ball joint, how about your oil? Hell, changing struts and springs doesn't really require much more of a brain than what your average primate has.

It is, of course, a shame that you can't just walk down to B & N and buy a HELMs. You trade accuracy and detail for the convenience of being able to do just that with a Chiltons or Haynes.
