    knocking?

Ok guys..my swap is done and there are a couple things i need to fix but thats it. Now when i'm idling and i rev up a little bit...i here a knocking...now could that be because im using 87 octane gas with my performance engine or what? i'm running no knock sensor right now getting a new one tomorrow...but that wouldn't cause that would it? info plz thanks alot

The knock might be the front mount bracket but im not sure..

oh and i have stage 2 cams...now when i drive around and even when im idling..it sounds like it supercharged...kinda whines a little bit..is that because of the cams or what?

    1. The knock sensor will not cause it to knock.

    2. The 87 octane will cause the knocking sound.

    C. How does it run, Iv never ridden in an H23 frank.

the whinning sound could be a vacume leak somewere, so check all your vac lines....hows your idle? hows your cap/rotor?also the whinning could also be the pcv valve.....if you have a cheap one the ball inside will rattle very fast making a whinning sound.

thats just stupid to drive your car with 87 in there. dont even drive that shit, syphon the gas out and put 91 in there... and even then, drive it as little as possible until you tune it.

and the whining is probably from a belt, has nothing to do with the cams.

I know, I would kick myself in the ass for running 87. Is 91 the highest octane in cali?

i don't live in cali...i live in washington...i have about 1/4 of a tank left of chevron plus that i have to use up then i'll fill with premium.

all vacuum lines are hooked up except a couple..

distributor is fine...brand new cap and wires

ok, but i would keep your fingers crossed that your motor doesnt blow up during that last quarter tank.

you build up the motor to run hard..BUT you cheap out on gas ?

as mentioned by DrLove'sKuDang, siphon the gas out, and throw in some 93 or 94 into that built motor of yours.

btw, who built your motor ? i'm sure they would have told you not to run low octane on a setup like yours. even on a stock H22, most of us wouldn't use 87 octane.

just add some higher grade gas and some octane booster and fill your tank.. you dont HAVE to wait till all the low grade is gone..

You too may need a valve adjustment(someone else needed one in another post). Check those valves and adjust them asap.
