CEL code 41= limp mode? New O2 sensor necessary?

Basically the senser heater circuit is apparently gone (fried wire somewhere?) so my CEL's been on for weeks. Does the ECU go into limp mode just because the O2 heater doesn't work? I mean it's summer time...what does it matter? My car feels about the same as it did before, although on really hot days it feels slower (prob. from running too rich...I imagine the richness keeps CC cooler though). Do the stock pt6's go into limp mode, should I fix this, and if so how can I fix it?

from what i'm told any CEL will cause the ECU to go into limp mode. However, I've experienced different levels of limp. When I had a TDC/Crank error it was MAJOR limp mode, my friends 95HP AUTO could out run me. Once I got that fixed, it runs pretty damn quick But I still have EGR/KS so it's still in limp mode. Though, much faster than before.

Yes, the O2 sensor helps the computer determine how much gas to give the car (via air:fuel ratio). I could get it fixed, most people just buy a new O2 sensor (from what i hear) and the problem goes away.

Grab a HELMS and see what the diagnostic procedure is.

Does your vtec still work? I still have a ks code, yet my vtec still works.
