    jerky throttle response

for the past couple days now, ive noticed it really come on. one instance in which i was coasting in 2nd through a parkinglot... my car would almost lunge foward by itself as if i was tapping the gas.

and again today, i noticed it on the freeway. not really when accelerating, but just when cruising. i was in 5th going around 70-80 and i would feel a slight jerk, back and forth. and it wasnt constant. it would happen at random intervals.

i noticed, normally when i cruise, i can keep my foot basically still. the throttle chanegs .1% up or down usually. but when i felt the jerkiness... i was in 5th, 70ish... and the throttle% was jumping between 9 and 14%. btw, i was reading all this off the vafc.

heres another thing that happened. today i was racing my friend and randomly the check engine light would come on. thing is, whenever it did, my throttle problem would go away... and along with that, the vafc would show a constant 0% throttle, even if i was flooring it.

is it just a loose connection somewhere??

it can be that there is something loose, id check ur connections.

usually when i do important wiring like that, i dont use butt connectors. i solder the two wires together to make a solid connections so i dont have to fuk with it later.

anyways...u can always check the CEL code in the computer cause it is stored in memory....try that to see what codes you throw out...then we can perhaps link one to it...then reset it and then when it happends again find out what it is...
What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.

You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!

My guess is the TPS, though it could conceivably be any one of them.

is it possible that one problem cause all 3 codes to go off? cause i didnt have any check light, and then when i do, i get 3 codes all at once.

yea, how kind of you to care

well first off i was an idiot. i was only getting the tps code. the other 2 were from a while back. i reset the ecu and drove it around for a couple days and the only code that came up was 7. i took it back to the shop and all they did was rewire the sensor cause there was a loose connection. so now it works perfectly. and they also adjusted the throttle cable so i get a more admediate response. and of course this was all free of charge... just part of good customer service.

now im just waiting for the weather to dry up so i can go out and have some fun with it.

hehe i do care, sorrie for the late response...

but how tight is your throttle cable now?

                glad you got it fixed.

well im not sure how to gauge it, but it just feels tighter. i know if was, cause when i got back in the car and started to drive off. as i was letting off the clutch i revved up too high, like 2.5k... i wasnt expecting it to jump so suddenly. but of course its one of those things you can just instantly adjust to.

i noticed there was some slack because when i was at wot, the throttle% would fluctuate between 96-98. so he just tightened it until i was flooring it and it read 100%. then it actually got a little too tight, cause i let off the gas and it read .1%, so he let off a tad and that was that.

so now i can chill at the shop without having a busted car in the lot.
