    throttle cable

well today i istalled a new fuel filter, and just for the heck of it i checked the slack in my throttle cable, and it seems to have to much, now i dont know how much it should have, maybe its fine but i thought i would ask,if you pull the throttle cable up and down how much play should it have?when i pull mine up and down its not too tight, how do i tighten it so it does not have so much play??i want to make it tighter, also i need a little better throttle response i have a bad granny gap it sucks, thanks

ok you see where it says throttle cable in green and the green arrow...thats where you are supposed to test deflection...what u do is push down slightly on the middle of that piece and then it should move like 2 or 3 CM...if its more or less then it should be re-adjusted.

sometimes too tight can lead the cable to snap...but i mean it has to be super tight.

but if ur somewhere near deflection point, then you are fine...
What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.

You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!

start loosing the top screw up and move the bottom one till the cord is tight, the tighten the top one down. did this to my car a couple months ago, and holy crap. i was starting to think something was wrong with my motor, it wouldnt accelerate right away, but that fixed that problem.

Before you go adjusting think about what accordztech said..."push down slightly on the middle of that piece and then it should move like 2 or 3 CM" that's nearly an inch give or take 1 inch = 2.54 CM) . If your cable is only moving a quarter inch, yours sounds like it might almost be too tight....

              just my opinion.

too tight and your throttle will stick, you'll have to stick your foot under the pedal to pull it back out . i adjusted mine cause i thought "more throttle response"(thread posted) but you need a different rotor for that. you should'nt really have to adjust it much just a few threads to tighten the cable without affecting idle and throttle sticking.

actually if its too loose, when u pull back on the throttle..ur idle will go down as a result.

mine was too loose and did that..but now mine is fine...
