    Heat Shield question

alright, i took the heat shield off my stock headers and was wondering about the possible problems. Two questions: could the increase in heat cause the paint under the hood to peel and could the heat melt the rubber hoses around the headers? Thanks for the help

my guess is that there wont be a problem, but its just a guess. I see lots of people that get aftermarket headers and leave off the heat shield and ive never heard of any complaints about problems. So, i would guess not.

thats a really good question bro but nah, the heatshield doesnt block that much,, the heatshield is a kind of heatsink, but its not a good one, it also gives off heat too. it doesnt keep that much heat away.. maybe 10 degrees diff, if that.

i thought the purpose of that heat sheild is to re-direct the heat, and not elevate the heat....its not physically attached to the header...it just so that excess heat wont come up from it...and if anything that touches the header will be blocked by it

like if u park ur car on top of tall grass...hopefully the heat sheild will make it so that it wont touch the main exaust pipeing..

but maybe yea maybe i get u xplode...if the heat shield is on, the difference is -10 degrees...if its off..its +10 degrees
What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.

You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!
