On the loooong driveshaft for automatics (left I think), what is that little extra rubber circle thing that's strapped about mid-way to the shaft; and what happens if its not there or not in the right place?
i dont think its anything really.. any aftermarket axles you get from say, autozone, dont have them.. the only ones ive seen with that thing are the stock axles from my sedan and my wagon.. ive replaced my axles on the sedan twice and neither had that ring..
I asked my mechanic that before, he didn't know either, he thought it might be like a balance. I thought it was there to protect it if it ever came out, like it would just bounce off whatever it hits..... yeah I don't know either
on the stairs, she grabs my arm, says whats up,
where you been, is something wrong?
i try to just smile, and say everything’s fine.
its kinda like the little wing on the driver's side windsheild wiper, why one and not the other? at least 100 people have asked me, what's that for?"but one thing about honda, there is a reason for everything.later
I always assumed it was for balancing purposes. Which sort of makes sense since it's on the longer shaft only. And also explains why the cheap reman/aftermarket axles that don't have them frequently have vibration problems even when brand new.
Oh no, that means my muffler belt must have snapped!
lol! oh no, mines gone too! good thing i got on the phone and ordered my Unorthodox Racing lightweight Muffler pulley, best bang for the buck! lightweight=better exhaust flow and cleaner emmissions
I guess i never had stock axles on mine, cause Ive never seen that before.
