I just went for a drive and decided to see what happens if I put it in reverse going 55mph, It does'nt do anything, it's just like neutral. I guess I'm going to have to watch where I park for a while, seeing that i can't back up.

I found out this chick is bi-polar. Now half the shit in my house is broke and my car is near totaled. Watch out for those ones fellas.
LOL how long have you dated this girl.

5 months, and get this, she still wants to be with me, yeah right. Maybe some ex-sex, thats it. I'll take it out on her ass, literaly.

It goes a lot deeper than this, she likes girls too, I don't want to get into it.

Thankfully, the TCM has some protections built in. There's about six that come to mind:

          1. The first and most important is the starter interlock. This disables the starter while in any gear except P or N.

          2. The second is the shift interlock. This has two parts. The primary system only allows the shifter to be moved if the key is in II and the brake pedal is depressed.

2.5. The secondary system adds another layer of protection. If the engine is on, the brake pedal and accellerator are depressed together and the engine revs beyond roughly 2200 RPM, the TCM will not allow the selector to be moved from park. To test this, depress the brake pedal while in P. With the brake pedal depressed, quickly press the accellerator about half throttle on and off. Listen for the solenoid click inside the console each time the accellerator is pressed.

          3. The third is the key interlock. This prevents the key from being turned to the "Lock" position in any gear except P.

          4. The fourth is reverse protection. If the car is travelling above approx. 10MPH, the TCM will not engage the reverse gear. It will remain in a neutral state until the car is below approx. 10MPH.

          5. The fifth is the downshift protection. If the car is downshifted to a lower gear which may over-rev the engine, the TCM will automatically select the highest gear that will not allow an overrev. Then, as your speed decreases, it will continue selecting a lower gear until the desired gear is engaged. For instance, you are travelling at 80 MPH, let go of the accellerator and shift the car to 1. The TCM will first choose 3rd gear until the RPM's fall to the point that second gear would engage at roughly 5500RPM, then to prevent damage to the transmission 1st gear will engage when the engine would rev at approx. 4000 RPM.

          6. The last is Park protection. Though this may still result in damage, it was thought out when the PX4 transmission was designed. If the car is placed in Park while travelling over approx. 5 MPH, the transmission is placed in a neutral state and the parking pawl will not fully engage thus protecting the drivetrain from damage...

Of course, both 1, 2, and 2.5 can be circumvented if you hold the selector button without letting go.

whew!!!! that's all I can think of. feel free to add..

HMMMM... Xasis360, by your no.4 response putting my car in park or reverse doing 75mph should not have done anything to my reverse gear, I'm wondering what happened. The car has 225,000, and it kind of "clunked" when I put it in reverse, all the time. Maybe it was ready to snap, And what happened helped it along. Who knows?

I took it to the tranny shop today. The guy came out started it, put in reverse, shook his head up and down, turned it off and said "Your best bet is to buy a used tranny." i asked him if he could install it for me, he said "yes". i asked him how much to install, he went and looked in his book and he said "$400". I said "ouch". I know I can do it myself, it just might take a while. time is an issue.

            Accord91lx, I'm going to pm u.
