Noise still present after front wheel bearing replacement

My front left wheel bearing went bad and was replaced with a new NSK wheel bearing. Although the whinning or whirling sound is gone, there is still noise present. Its like a humming sound, but no way as near as the whinning from the bad bearing.

Either the mechanic damaged the bearing during the install or another problem with the steering/suspension system exists.

I drove the car for a year with the bad bearing, I hope the vibration didnt damage anything.

Its defintely coming from the front left wheel area. I am suspecting a bent wheel, so I will get new steel wheel and check again. Is it possible the hub is bad? Usually the bearings go and not the hubs on the front.

If you drive on a bad bearing over time IT WILL FOR SURE wear the hub out and still leave play in it. They sell NEW hubs for these cars for around 150.
I live my life a quarter mile at a time. . . for those 56.7 seconds my Nike Shox are are laying the rubber to the asphalt. (Car to be born soon, should drop quarter times to about 15 secs or less SOHC all motor).

I agree, take it apart and troubleshoot! I suggest buying a new hub, should come with bearing, anyhow!

I think my wheel bearing needs replacement too makes a rough hmming noise while cruising sometimes aswell as when making turns, how much did it cost you to get it fixed that way i can have a rough estimate? thanks

could it be the differential going bad or the trans. low on oil?

The wheel bearing was $50 and the brand was NSK. The box had the oem part number on it. Labor was $100, but I should got the a new hub which runs about $150.

By the way, when the front rotors are replaced, the whole hub/bearing assembly needs to be removed first?

Yes, to do it properly the rotor needs to be pressed off the hub.

This means when the front rotors need replacement, I can bring a prepressed hub/bearing assembly and have the mechanic reinstall it with the new rotors.\

By the way, how can you definitely tell if the front hub is bad because the bearing is new?

What is a typical symptom of a bad front left hub? While driving, there is a humming noise, not a whining sound from a bad wheel bearing. Also, the noise goes away when turning left on curved roads, but not turning right. The wheel bearing was replaced, but not the hub some time back.
