    still makes loud screechy noise

so yesterday i replace the front brake pads thinking that was the reason it was screeching really loud(metal on metal sound). the pad was pretty worn so i put the new one on. drove around yesterday and today, and it still sounds really bad. thing is, sometimes when i push the breaks it gets REALLY loud, a very annoying metal on metal screeching sound. only from the front left area. i dont think it's a belt cause it only does it when the car is moving, and not when i rev the engine. sometimes it stops when i hit a bump or something, or sometimes it will start from a bump. sometimes it makes no noise when i hit the brakes, other times it makes that constant loud screech.

i'm not sure what to do. any ideas?

im thinking its a ball joint or axle. check those, and check to see if your axle boot is cracked.

sorry would have gotten back to you sooner, but i felll asleep. Umm the axle boot is the boot that if you turn your steering wheel out all the way to one way, then you can see the boot. www.cardomain.com/id/williamsvt. 2nd page 3/4s of the way down, i got a pic of the new axle boot in, that should help.

Did you turn the rotor or inspect it for glazing or "hard spots"? That can cause annoying break squealing... you did replace both pads right? was one side more worn than the other? You may have a siezed caliper on that side. I'd also check the wheel bearings.

Did you look at the heat shield on the backside of the rotor? Its very thin metal and can be bent easily into your rotor causing some nasty screeching metal on metal sounds.
