If you're looking for a pan I assume you have an auto. First off, Hondas don't have transmission pans. Just take a 3/8 ratchet and remove the drain bolt from the bottom of the trans and let the old fluid drain out. Clean off the magnetic tip and replace the crushwasher on the drainbolt. Once its done draining torque the drain bolt back down. Refill thru the dipstick hole on the top of the trans with 2.5 qts of ATF. As far as ATF is concerned, I've always used Honda ATF and I like it the best, however, any good quality name-brand Dexron III ATF will work.

didnt 89 civics call for 10w30 for transmission fluid?

hehe probably the normal stuff that is like 2 bucks a quart will be good enough for u
What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.

You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!

anyways... i have a manual tranny and ASSUMED it had a tranny pan. so when i flush the tranny should i let the oil run through, then reuse it again to flush it out again?

manual trannys use 10W-30, but ALL autos use ATF reguardless of year.

Oh so it is a manual huh. No, do not run the old oil tru again, just drain it out thru the drain plug, once its done retorque the drainplug, then remove the fill plug (17mm bolt right above the drain plug) and you must pump the new trans fluid in thru the fill plug. Just keep pumping it in until it starts draining back out of the fill plug, usually takes about 2.5 qts. Last, retorque the fill plug and you're done.

                      torque converter plate

im not sure if i can use the h22 tranny torque converter plate on the f22a3 motor they look most the same except for the number and a few holes .any suggestions on this ? i suspect its either a crak or the warp on the f22a3 motor . ther numbers on the plate are also different .

civics used motor oil but there was always something better than that.
