    Timing belt done, timing issue

I just did my timing belt and balance belt, and now my timing is off. I tried to adjust the distributor, but it only makes the rpms drop more and timing even farther off. Was my cam shaft not as well aligned as I thought it was, or am I missing something else?

It's weird that its perfectly on time when I start the car, but as soon as it warms up it falls out of time... I don't get it. This was my first timing belt job so I know I probably fucked something up. Help me out, please!

    Thanks!

not properly aligning the timing belt on the cam gear will throw cam timing off...i know this from experience because our dealer didn't properly set the cam timing after a timing belt change & I had to correct the problem...depends on whether you retarded or advanced the timing as to what ur symptoms are

Okay, third time's the charm. I don't know why, but my other user ID's don't work anymore. Originally I was evol90accord, then that stopped working, so then I was 1-900-HotLove, that stopped working, now Im this. I hope this email situation gets figured out soon, i want my old ID back!! And unless you like talking to guys, I don't think you want free sex talk from me... Besides, your gf says I'm bad at phone sex

Anyways, as far as I can tell, all the timing marks line up. And that doesn't explain why when I first start the car, the timing is dead on, but then when it warms up it falls out of time... what else could it be?

Well, one thing is, you never adjust the ignition timming on a cold engine.
Try adjusting it after your engine is warm, and see if that improves things.

Turns out you were right... the camshaft was about 2 or 3 teeth off TDC, and the balance shaft was way out of whack. I reset all the belts and turned the engine around a few times and back to TDC, everything is lined up perfect now.

Hey at least I'm faster at taking off timing belts in this car. What took me a better part of a day last weekend took only 3-4 hours yesterday! I could start doing this for a living.... HA!
