Grab a flashlight: you're going to have to get in there from the back seat and try to release the trunk from the inside. Once you have it open is a good time to get a new lock and switch tail lights... and kick you friend's ass or make him pay for a new lock and matching key from Honda: not cheap.

1st things 1st, did you perhaps lock the trunk release on the interior (you stated that it doesn't work)?

in any event, i'd suggest getting the lock and perhaps the trunk cable (possibly the other reason your trunk won't open from the inside) fixed. maintenance first, then mods... do it right the first time, and your car will love you back.

once you get the basic things fixed, then go about doing the tails.

from the way your asking the questions, yes, go to the dealer and get it fixed. you don't have to go, but it makes sense to me.

get the maintenance done first. why do you want to change your taill ights, yet have no way to open the trunk in a conventional manner?!?!?

I thought everyone was supposed to be nice to the noobs.

I agree with uncle_el. Take it to honda if you don't know what you're doing. Make your 'friend' pay for it.

i'm not saying the question is stupid, what i'm saying is that i think you should get the basic things fixed before you go and try to "mod" your car.

it doesn't make sense to try and change the tail lights, when you currently have no way to open the trunk. it doesn't open from the inside, and the lock doesn't work... and the first thing you want to do is to change the tail lights? that doesn't seem to be logical thinking to me.

                synopsis:
get trunk fixed so that it can be opened at least from 1 location.
once the trunk is fixed, then get the tail lights changed.
