When you accidently shift into nuetral on an auto transmission

For those with auto trannies, have ever by accident shift into nuetral while driving? For example your right hand hits the shift lever and puts it into nuetral. This has happened to me a couple times, but I pull over to a complete stop and then shift into D4.

Can there be transmission damage if you put into D4 from nuetral while the car is still moving at driving speed?

I always make full stops when changing from R to D4 and back. But, when the car is taken to shop for service, those mechanics never make full stops.
Can there be transmission damage if a complete stop is not made when switching gears in the long run?

    Thanks

the reverse to d4 with out stop is bad but the nuetral thing when it happens to me i just let the idle go all the way down then put it in d4 and then wait a couple a sec. then get on it again

yo man, your definetaly alright, taking it into neutral is almsot just like it shifting itself into another gear, it just shifts out of all the gears. feel free to shift into neutral and rev anytime as long as the rpms are low when you shift it back into drive and your moving. you dont have to fully stop no, all you have to do is weight till the rpms are around 1000 and you can shift from reverse or park to drive. youll know when its bad on your tranny if it makes a jerk.

i did that one time too....i accidentally bumped the key with my knee or something and all of the power went off...i quickly saw what i did and turned the key to the on position and kept driving...but everything just shut off for a second

as for accidentally putting it in neutral....when in neutral just rev the rpms to the original spot and you wont notice anything...just like everyone else was saying....as for reverse...id have to agree with just waiting for the rpms to go down....you'll definetely tell when you shifted to early if you dont wait
