problem, no idea what it is

Sometimes in the mornings i smell gasoline, or exhaust or something inside the car, usually only when i turn the vents on. i dont know if that relates to the real problem though.

Lately i feel like there has been a loss in power, when idling at lights in neutral the rpms drop to about 200-300, never stays at 1k like it used to a few weeks ago. the car actually died on me the other day, i turned it off to go into the store, came back out and started it, then it died 2 seconds later. then it started a minute later. also i think my clutch is going out, the fluid is full, i just replaced to slave cylinder, now lately it engages about half way, and the other half is all play, so i can push on it with no resistance for the first inch or two(maybe more, i suck at telling distance), then it finally gives me some resistance, and engages clutch.

so ya, i know for a fact theres a loss in power, it just doesnt feel the same. i have intake, and a gutted cat.

    thanks

hmm...when i had a bad distributor, it would sometimes stall out as soon as i started it and not start again for awhile. it also stalled out while driving regularly too tho...

as for the gas, when you start the car, open your hood and see if you can find where its coming from.

you can adjust your idle too...just do a search and find a thread where it tells you and see if that works.

If its a burning smell u should look at ur oil pan, as it leaked once and I can smell it in the car.

It could also be the alternator, like when my mom fried hers and it smelled too..

      good luck

If its gas, its obviously gas. Most likely culprit is from a leaky injector. Get under the hood and look to see if there's a wet area near the fuel rail, or just simply sniff around where you can; the nose knows.

i would check the pressure and return fuel lines near the fuel tank, there is a small plastic cover you will have to remove. its common for the lines to rot out there. check the clutch master cylinder for leaks, look up under the dash where the push rod connects to the clutch pedal. it is common for them to leak from the seal at the back of the master cylinder

fizz, would a faulty fpr make the car bog...for exampl if your steady on the gas and all of a sudden the car bogs and feels like its not getting fuel and you have to let off the gas and eventually it gos back to normal. its hard to explain.
