Driver's door is sagging

So I've had to remedy this before on a couple of GM vehicles and it's usually the brass bushing that has given up. I think it's the problem on my car, as the driver's door will rock a significant amount up and down. Not enough to keep the latch from catching mind you, but it's enough that the door frame will catch the front edge of the back door and cause it to not close properly.

I think my driver's door weatherstripping failure has led to this. I took a look at my hinge and it appears to be the same setup with a couple pins that go through some bushings. I think when the gasket failed, it allowed water to run over the hinges, washing off what little grease they may come installed with, and the pin/bushing started to wear soon after that.

Although it seems to be rare on our cars that these wear out. There's very very few threads on the subject here. Doe anyone know where to get a good fitting set? I see some on Amazon but the reviews aren't good, and none on RockAuto.

Cheddasauto has one advertised but it seems a bit high at $50. Anyone have a good alternative?

I have the same problem on Ruby; on the lower left hinge the serrations on the head of the pin have actually wallowed out the hole in the steel part of the hinge, not worn out the bronze bushing. The lower hinge on the left is the same as the upper hinge on the right (and vice versa). I got another hinge from a lower mileage car (took it from the upper right figuring it had much less use than the driver side). I still haven't replaced it; I'm reluctant to go the extent of removing the fender to get to the hinges and I haven't looked close enough to see if I can replace it by just removing the fender liner and accessing the hinge inside the fender.

You can still get a whole hinge assembly from Majestic for $46.

No, you don't have to remove the fender, you can access it by removing the fender liner.

I hope that isn't the case on mine. Getting the whole assembly might be the way to go if that's the way they end up wearing. But you have to take off the door to inspect! I think mine's the bush given how little it's sagged, but now you've gone and planted the seed of doubt.

So does the hinge part you cited from Majestic come with new pins and bushes?

You don't need to remove the door, I could tell mine was the pin moving just by opening the door and watching the hinge as I raised and lowered it. A bright flashlight will help.

Yes, the hinge is sold as a complete assembly with the pins and bushings.
