what other suspension items should i replace?

I got a 92 ex coupe. I know i just made a post about my rear control arms but now i am thinking of what else up front i should replace also. A year ago i did the rack, inner & outer tie rods, front upper control arms, front lower ball joints, front & rear shocks. I did much other work but thats all to do with suspension. What else should i replace. Am assuming any bushings also. My steering still isn't perfect, close but not yet. I did not replace the front lower suspension control arms. I see bushings in there so am assuming they were bad. Should this be something i replace? Anything else, up front or in the rear? I am about to replace rear upper control arms also. Would like to get everything to do with steering and suspension out of way then get it aligned.

Good luck; I'm doing almost the same thing as you right now. I can't wait to get this stuff installed and install some nice Conti tires.

Already did that about 9 months ago. Changing those made the biggest improvement to my steering. Much stiffer.

Depends what the condition of your suspension is in and what your intentions and budget allows. Ideally you'd replace EVERYTHING but that gets expensive very quickly. Realistically dampers/springs and you can do the bushings in stages or all at once if you can swing it.

I should of had bushing replaced when i did shocks 9 months ago. But didn't. My budget is first always on mechanically perfect. I am assuming all things on this car are old(cause they are) and worn out needing replaced. The rear upper control arms am doing soon myself. Would like to do all this myself but am limited by living in apartment complex and sometimes must pay a mechanic.Ball joints seem to go before bushings so when i do rear upper arms i think i would be all done. Are there any other ball joints in rear? I see 2 bushings in each front lower suspension control arms. Is there a way to check these things. Ball joints are easily visually inspected but bushings are different. I am sort of trying to figure out what i can and can't do.

Sorry for the late response. I'm planning on replacing the radius rod bushings, ARB bushings, tie rods, upper/lower control arms, lower ball joints, and the halfshafts while I'm in there.

Not to increase your expense and time, your car is pretty high mileage, correct? Is your steering rack leaking? Might be a good opportunity to change that out. If not the whole rack, if you're doing inner tie rods you might want to put new boots on while you're at it

I think he did the rack.. zed I can't think of anything other than bushings and bearings. There are a bunch of bushings on the front. Two in the lower control arm, two in the upper, radius rod, top of the shock tower and sway bar. I bought a urathane kit due to backyard doable install. This was one of the rare times a kit was cheaper than all the separate parts. I don't recall if it was prothane or energy but either would work. I think most of the improvement was due to the saggy old ones being replaced with new ones lining up the moving parts better. Not a huge difference though new bearings would make a bigger difference. Also cv joints.
Since you have done the ball joints this is the best method to safely separate them.

Yes mine is over 380k. The PO told me he'd put in a new rack not too long ago, and judging by the boots that may be true. From what I can tell it looks nice and dry.

Wow that's alot. Hopefully i get to replace the rest of my suspension items soon. I bet most of my bushings are bad also. I hate paying a mechanic to do stuff i can otherwise do but I don't think i can do most of the bushings. AS they are much harder it seems and need the car up in air to do this.

It is, but I figure as old as this car is and judging by the buffoonery I've seen on some of the other repairs, I'm going to not chance it and just redo everything so I'm not discovering wonderful new sounds every couple months.

I'd like to be able to do this and not have to worry about anything in the suspension for at least a couple years.

Lca bushings are hard but doable if replacing with urathane. Remove the lca, cut out the rubber then cut the sleeve with a hacksaw and peel it out. Lithium Grease the urithane and slide it in. The rest of the bushings are easy up front.

That's alot. I think i'll do my rear upper control arms. Which i know are easy to do. Then took a lookse while doing that and see how hard it might be. Are bushings as hard as ball joints to replace. If they are maybe i'll consider just buying entire part with bushings in them already. I didn't even know the car had bearings up front except for the cv joints.
