    Half added factory sunroof

As a master certified tech with with 23 years experience this is the probably the biggest nightmare I have worked on. The sunroof on my sons 93 accord lx was broke last week. I pulled a complete sunroof glass, track and motor from a you pull it and we put it in over the weekend. It has never worked since we got the car but for a $500 first car we didn't worry too much about it at the time. With the headliner down this was the time to diag why it didn't work. Have no power to the motor but if I jumper the motor with a battery it will open and close. Both fuses are good. Went to check the relays and there are none. No relays, no place for relays, no wiring, nothing. I checked my 93 ex and they are right on top of the fuse block where they are supposed to be. We also noticed as the trim panels came down that the complete roof had been cut off and welded back on. Don't know exact specifics but I'm wondering if the car originally came with a sunroof or not. The plug in for the sunroof switch is there and plugged in. Has anyone been into the dash far enough to tell me if the sunroof harness is separate or built directly into the main dash harness? Realistically It wouldn't be that hard to pull the rest of the harness from the you pull it yard. Just want to know what to plan on. thanks

LX's did not come with a sunroof.

The EX main harness has the connections to the sunroof switch that control the relay coils for closing and opening as well as power to the relay switches and coils.

The LX main harness only has the connection to the switch but NOT the connection to the sunroof relays for power and close/open.

To implement sunroof control with an LX harness, assuming you have the OEM sunroof wiring in tact with the relays as well, all you would have to do is wire up power, ground, open, close and the two motor wires. Fairly straightforward process.

Just in case that was clear as mud:
The Sunroof has it's own harness
The EX harness is what you need to have OEM function of the sunroof.
Those two harnesses connect to each other through a gray 8-pin connector I believe.

best bet is to run the VIN to see exactly what year and model your son's accord is. you can use an online parts site something like www.hondapartsnow.com and input the VIN and it should give you vehicle info. like stated; if it turns out to be an EX model then it should have a factory installed sunroof. if its LX model; then chances are someone in the past put it in.

No way it's an EX or above. Roof cut and missing wiring....nope.

Someone definitely did a hack job on adding a sunroof.

Thanks guys. Yea, definitely not a professional install job. If it ever stops raining I am going to look a bit farther under the dash and see if the relays were relocated(not holding my breath). The sunroof came from a 90. I'm probably going to go back this weekend and see how much of the harness I can get.

I always wanted to chop the roof/sunroof off a car and weld to mine Sounds like a bad idea.
