    transmission seal

I am not sure of the name of the seal on the transmission that the cv shaft goes into. Anyone got an idea what it's called?
i'm not sure if it's a input seal, output seal, or a main seal.
The passenger side is dripping oil and needs replaced.

It pops out with a flathead screwdriver. On installation though use a piece of wood to gentle pop it in or you'll damage the new one they are fragile indeed.

It's called an output shaft seal. Use a seal pry tool, and sure wood can work. I use a socket that's the correct size and gently tap them in.

Output Seal: Usually where transaxles meet. Outputs the energy into the wheels.

Input Seal: Where the engine meets the transmission. For example, like the torque converter seal. Takes power as input from engine. I've also seen trans pump seal here because our pumps are literally where the shaft is next to.

Main Seal: There's usually the rear main or front main, usually a crank or oil seal.

Selector Shaft: Where the shift latch goes. It does have a small seal which also should be taken into account if opening the trans and engine. It selects the gears basically.
