    Power Steering squeal

I just replaced my steering rack and tie rods and sway bar bushings. When I put it all back together the car turns nicely but now there is this moan coming from the rack and a smell of burnt rubber. Any Ideas what this could be?

First check the fluid level and condition. No bubbles should exist in the fluid as this could indicate the system still has air in it.

If you're smelling rubber and hear a squealing, I'd check the condition of the power steering belt and tension. If it's old, replace it and install a new one set to the proper tension. You can tell it's old if you see visible cracks on the ridges or the belt looks shiny (from slipping).

There were some bubbles it the reservoir, I topped it off and moved the wheels while on jack stands and now it works like a champ. no squeals or burning smell.
