    How do you replace valves?

Ok so my timing belt and balance shaft belt both broke at 80 going down the freeway. So i pulled the head and need to replace some valves and clean things up a bit. But i cant find any threads on taking the valves out. So if someone would love to explain how to use this valve spring compressor and or how to lap valves i would greatly appreciate it! Thanks guys! Btw its my first rebuild so any advice will help!

honestly i would take it to a machine shop because then they can surface it, clean it and check your valve guides.
BUT if you really want to, i would look on youtube for a video im sure there is some.

Can't really answer you about quotes etc as I'm.Australian. torque specs are available on the forum. Not sure about the valve springs, don't see w benefit if its all stock leave it stock.

I got eight stitches between my nose and upper lip trying to take the valves out of my H's head. Using valve seal pliers... those seals just didn't want to come off. Pliers slipped and I punched myself in the face with the handles. They went about half a hair short of reaching through into my mouth. Would've been about $3k if I didn't have health insurance.

I used a propane torch to burn the valve seals off. quick ,easy, no injury. The keepers let loose with a little down ward pressure and a magnetic spark plug socket will catch them for you.

For bigger cams, you're definitely going to want springs rated to handle the new lift/duration. Otherwise you get 'valve float' when the old springs aren't strong enough to close the valve quickly enough between strokes.

Yeah, I didn't think about a torch. For the keepers/springs, I got one of these bad-ass tools. Don't know about the F22's head, but the H is too cramped for conventional spring compressors.

as for a price i didnt get charged for them to install mine since i had them make the seats bigger for bigger valves. and that was only 80$ and a 3 angle valve grind was 196.95.
but really every machine shop has different prices, dont go for the cheapest, look at reviews online/talk to friends that have had machine work done before. if you can find a good set of a6 springs that would be good idea or if you really plan on going with a bigger cam you can order the bisi springs they are also a pretty good price for what they are rated at

How do you know what type and size springs to install with say maybe a delta 272 i have heard many good things. And i just dropped off the head and its going to be 140 plus valves.

Choosing the right springs means finding the specs of the cam, and getting a spring that can support that spec plus some, for a safety buffer in the event of a mis-shift or something. I think the Delta 272 is rated at 272 duration and .425 lift. Bisi still has the F22 springs listed on their site, but no specs are given. TunerSports has a good price on Supertech's spring+retainer kit. Both are solid companies, but I can't find lift specs on either spring.
