I failed my smog test then a week later i went and took it again but i was told this time to go run the car hard and make sure the cat is nice and hot then it sould lower your emiisions alot. I passed mine with flying colors the second time

if you have an aftermarket header, they usually tend to wear out the cat prematurely. this could be your problem. you should look at the cat in general. is your timing off? are all your vac lines in place or in good condition?

Have the EGR ports ever been cleaned? This is the most common cause of failed (or close to it) emissions test. If they have never been done, try that, your car will run alot better too.

Just clean the EGR ports and give it a good tune-up and you should be fine. Cat failures are not very common on these cars.

I think there is a DIY for port cleaning around here somewhere if you've never done it before.

thats more on the levels of NoX...but its a good idea to do so.

but i think its the cat.
What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.

You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!
