Brake light switch on Dashboard.

recently, my brake pedal feels soft when the car is on, and when I press on it, the brake light switch appears on the dashboard and stays on even when I remove my foot off the brakes.

also the car groins first thing in the morning when I put it in Reverse and release the handbrake and roll backwards while pressing intermittently on the brakes, then after it is warm the brakes do not throw such sound but as stated above, pedal feels soft.

what could be wrong ?

Is it your ABS light that's coming on or the brake light out indicator. I'm sure you don't mean the e-brake light..

brake light out indicator, the one that appears on the bottom of the car drawing on the dashboard.

When I come to a stop and press the brakes,the indicator stays on the dashboard when I remove my foot off the brakes it stays ON on the dashboard ...mine is a 1990 auto so no ABS for me.

PS: this is not my car, but it is this light I am talking about.

That should mean you have a brake light out. Although, I have the same problem but my lights all work. Check all your brake lights. It doesn't comes on until you press the brakes because that's how it works. It "notices" when u press the brakes and will stay on until you shut it off.

Negative it should be ON only when you break, when you lift your foot off the brake it should go away ..in my case it doesnt and all my brake lights are working

I'm going to say you probably have one of a few problems if not a combo of problems. The pedal feel may or may not be related to the dash light.

Dash Light:
Check to see if all of the tail light bulbs are working. Keep in mind that you need to check with and without pressing on the brakes because there are some dual filament bulbs in our tail lights (Filament 1=running lights and Filament 2=when brake pedal is pressed). More than likely this is the reason for the dash light.

Pedal feel:
This could be the brake master cylinder and or brake booster, air in the lines, pads/shoes that are slap wore out, etc. This one is hard to diagnose without more info. Did you recently have work on the brakes done where bleeding was required? If so, I'd say the lines need to be bled again. If you step on the brakes when coming to a stop and feel like you have to pump them to maintain braking this is more than likely a brake master cylinder. If you hear a squeal or scrape when you apply the brakes it is probably time for new pads and/or shoes. If you normally drive a newer car the brakes may feel squishier on a CB7. There are a lot of possibilities for bad brake pedal feel.

checked my brake pads they are 7mm in thickness and the manual says the pads must be 12 mm.
should I replace my brake pads ? or should I bleed the system to get rid of this problem ?!

Sorry for the late response. For the future I would not open up the bleeder screw to push the piston back in the caliper. Just open up the cap on the reservoir under the hood to relieve pressure on the system and do the C-clamp method. It is possible that by having the bleeder screw open that it could have introduced some air into the system. I'd probably bleed the brakes pretty good just in case. Also, make sure that your fluid reservoir is full.

Pads can also have an effect on pedal feel. Especially if one pad is more worn than the other. I find that often that one pad each side wears faster than the other pad. When I have replaced the pads it improves the pedal feel.

If your pads are at 7mm thick total including the pad backing it is definitely time to replace them. The pad backing is 6mm from what I could find so only 1mm of friction material left is definitely not good.

So, what I would do if I were you is:

Change brake pads and resurface and/or replace rotors.
Bleed brakes

As far as the brake lamp indicator on the dash have you checked to ensure all bulbs are working? (With and without pressing the brakes)

Thx for replying, nope actually the front brake pads have 7mm in thickness without the backing plate, so according to the manual they're still useful.

I also bled the braking system apart from the rear driver side because the bleeder screw broke of corrosion, but thank GOD no fluid came out I think because the bleeder was clogged, so I left it as is.

I still don't know how to solve the problem, however the difference I noticed now, that only when I brake hard, it lights up

Should I check the rear drum pads ?!

It almost sounds like your brake fluid is low. Is the reservoir full? If the fluid is low it throws the "brake" lamp (same one as when you pull the e-brake). If it is the "brake lamp" as shown in your pic it is possible that you have a short somewhere in the brake lamp harness.

my reservoir is at the full mark, gonna change the hoses for the brake booster.

what do you mean by the brakelamp harness ? where is that ?! the rear brake tail lights are all working no problem.

I have a similar problem with the brake light indicator on my 90. Mine comes on, then stays on, when I first hit brakes, usually after it has rained. Just like you, all my brake lights work. You and I probably have a problem with the sensors that determine if the brake lights are out.

seems like it, or there could be still air in the system, I have noticed a few things on mine though.

Whenever I hit the brakes hard, it lights on, and whenever I am parking the car on a slope, be it up or down, I hear some noise whenever I lift my foot off the brakes !! ... it sounds like you're opening an old door or something.

could mine still have air in the system. According to the manual the sequence is:
rear passenger, front driver, rear driver, front passenger, is yours the same ?!
