    intake? what is this?

Removed factory intake and there was a black box bolted to inner fender and has a vacuum line going to it and a electrical connector. Anyone know what it is and if I can get rid of it?

its for the vaccuum operated rear motor mount and the proper way to delete it is the replace your vaccuum operated rear motor mount with a non-vaccuum one

That back box is a vacuum tank and the electrical connector goes to a solenoid. This setup is used to control intake resonance. At certain RPM the solenoid is opened by the ECU and it helps keep the intake quiet.

You can remove it and the solenoid without any issues. Just make sure to cap/plug the vacuum hose after you disconnect it from the tank.

You can remove the hose the check valve and two way valve as well if you want. Again where ever it is that you end up with an open vacuum hose or hose barb, remember to cap it or plug it. Other wise it will cause a vacuum leak and more than likely a higher than normal idle.
