I bought an exhaust off of Ebay a few years ago. I needed something cheap to replace the rotting stock exhaust. While it is a good solid exhaust it sounds like bees in a can. I know that I could get a different performance muffler but I don't think that I can put out the money for the muffler and the welding. Is it possible to buy the OEM stock replacement or equivalent and hook it up to the 2.25" stainless setup that is on the car? My son wants the car when he turns 16 next year. My wife and I have discussed quieting it down so he doesn't "attract attention". Thanks for any advice.

Not easily. The exhaust you purchased is likely stainless steel so anything you weld to it will need to be stainless also. I could be wrong but I don't think there are too many aftermarket OEM-style mufflers that are stainless available for sale.
You could do a couple of things:
You could swap out the exhaust entirely for an aftermarket OEM replacement brand like Walker.
Or, you could change out the canister-style muffler for a baffled one. To increase the effectiveness, you could replace the resonator with a muffler in line with the exhaust. My Members' Ride Thread - It's a marathon build, not a sprint. But keep me honest on the update frequency!
