Just a quick question. I assembled the F23 short block and want to know if its okay to use clear RTV on the engine. I used it on the oil pump. The Permatex website says that its "not recommended" for engine gasket applications, but will it be fine to use it? I already installed the oil pan and I don't really want to change it, its just I want to know if it work or not.

Did you put it on the oil pump or oil pan? Your post says both.
The clear RTV is similar to what you should use, but doesn't have the same properties. It is not as resistant to oil as it should be. In addition, its effective temperature range is -75 to 400 degrees fahrenheit while other sealants effective temperature range goes up to 600.
I am not sure how hot the areas you might have put it on actually get. However, seeing as how it is not as resistant to oil, I probably wouldn't have used it if I were you. I'd recommend changing it soon, but I don't really see it causing too much damage to drive like that till you can fix it correctly.

Looks like I can't. Dang it. I need more wire wheels to remove the gasket material too. Guess I need to stop bitching and do it. Alright, thanks guys.

If you don't want to tear it down to do it again then do it right the first time. Only will set you back a day, its no big deal.
Just the other week I had a feeling I put in these cam seals to far. After a day of thinking I looked beyond it and put my new timing belt. Right when I started the car it started to leak and ruined my belt.
I had to buy a new belt, and new seals.
Trust me, just do it again. Use Toyota FPIG black sealant, or Honda bond. Grey permatex is good but once you use that oem stuff you never go back.What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.
You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!
