New Ball Joint Leaking Grease

I would say I put them in 2 weeks ago. I knew the one ball joint had a small slit in the top of the boot where grease was leaking from. It wasn't a lot of grease just a little. I didn't make the slit on the boot it was like that when I got it. I tried to RTV the hole to see if it would keep it from leaking. Well I checked it today to see how it was doing and I just see grease dripping from the spot. My question is will it be okay or should I send it back in for another? I don't want it going bad on me.

Definitely send it back and swap for a good one. I had the same thing happen to mine. Noticed a small slit leaking grease. I stopped right there and took it back. I've been a fan of Moog's. They've always lasted the longest for me.

Thank you for the advice, I'm going to have to contact Rock Auto about it. I hope they will send me a replacement and let me send the bad one back later.

I assume that is a front lower ball joint? OEM is only $17. The boots can be purchased separately if they crack; I just replaced all boots on my uppers, lowers, and tie rod ends on my 93 EX.

If you just replaced the ball joint. And haven't driven and the boot is cracked my thinking is you could replace the boot.

My thinking is there should be no dirt and debris in there to cause the joint to prematurely wear.

I emailed Rock Auto about the issue yesterday and asked them if they could just send me a new boot. I guess they are going to send me a whole new ball joint because they can't just send the boot. So when I get the ball joint in I'm just going to use the new boot from the replacement. I will have to be very very careful that I don't tear it or mess it up in some way.
