    driving idle and stall

I am so lucky lately. f22a6 auto

I had this pop up once before but now something has to be done, Just tonight I was trying to make it back home from work (normaly a 20 min drive) but my car at a stop light would bog down run at 200rpm and at a few lights stall when it would stay running and the light would turn green it would bog really bad with gas then it would jump jump then either die or I would have to pop the pedal to make it go but it would go up to 2k and bog if I wanted any more power.

It thew a C.e.l light and the code came up as a 3 - map sensor
I then went and pulled the backup fuse and waited the 15 mins then the car would run and drive fine.

I'm wondering if I should grab a map sensor at the yard and see if this goes again then replace if it does.

I did try to get some info from
    http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthre...ght=map+sensor

Update my car attempted to do this fun thing again.... It worked wonderful all day then after a 60 mile round trip it started up again as I was going to school stumble stumble stall, restart at each stop light I had to throw my hazzards on and then went to a parking lot pulled the backup fuse for at least 15 mins re inserted and it stumbled stumbled and died restarted and it worked to try and make it home then it died and i restarted got to another parking lot ( died and luckly rolled into the parking spot then I pulled the ECU and the backup for atleast a half hour re started and it threw the #3 CEL again but then no problems getting home..... I believe its heat related so i'm going to get another M.A.P sensor tomarrow because this has to stop!

Ive been having a similar problem for the last few weeks, car will shut off at lights, a few times while driving, had to coast off the road.

I cleaned the throttle body, tightened the FITV and bled coolant after reading countless threads on the idle topic. Then it started idling at 2k rpms half the time. Then yesterday while making frequent stops with car idling, the radiator exploded, BOOM!

Hood popped up, smoke/steam everywhere, coolant all over street. Hustled up a new one, installed right there on street, but still idling high half the time. Don't want that to happen again.

Im going to clean IACV when cools down, and the EGR passages after get supplies. I'm thinking vacuum leak as well, and the ECU is sending too much gas to compensate? if that's even possible

Post up if the MAP sensor fixes the problem. peace

^ you have to had a bad cap or something not allowing the system to expand. But your cooling system by the looks of it was in very poor condition. I have opened radiators and the plates inside are always silver. They turn that color from a over heat or bad headgasket or old ass coolant that broke down.
What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.

You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!

thanks for reminding me to get a new cap. Radiator was definitely no good, but I think it was the high rev idle after trying to solve the stall while driving problem that sent it over the edge. I forgot to disconnect the MAP sensor when I cleaned the throttle body, don't know if that would cause the high idle. Hasn't stalled since though

I am very particular about keeping my engine running as good as possible.... granted besides the leaking outer seal.... This morning again it actually stalled right on start up tried to give it gas and it started to miss fire. After pulling the back up fuse and waiting at my church parking lot I finally managed to get it to idle so I limped out of the parking lot stalled twice trying to give it any gas then when I got to the main road I tried to push the gas let off and push it again made it to a park without pissing anyone off... went through all the vac hoses, pulled my intake off and did a quick wipe of the intake, pulled the cover off the fast idle control and tightened that down then let it up just a half turn put it all back together returned the backup fuse and it started right up no problems for the rest of the day.

I've been having a similar problem. I'm going to start another thread as mine isn't bogging on acceleration, and don't want to thread jack. Hope its fixed for you

no problems yet feels like a crappy start sometimes falls down to like 500 then catches itself and idles right already replaced the map sensor I would guess the ECU but the car does work properly 90% of the time so I gues I will just keep going through the engine cleaning things and praying I don't get stranded and have to tell people trying to help me "no its not a dead battery just the computer being dumb"

Check for codes and go through the fsm for drivability. Possibly test your coolant temp sensor because the ecu uses that for fuel enrichment.

So the map sensor thew a code again today upon start up. So i went through all the lines again and the one connected to the canister broke off. Can i leave it disconnected or should i get a new one? ( after it broke off with the nipple inside the hose it did not throw any cel's)
