    3m Window weld price spike

Has anyone else noticed 3m window welds price has spiked to $25+ A tube !? 3m must have HQ in a cannabis legal state lol. Last year it was $9.99. I only bring this up because usually use the stuff to faithfully repair broken motor mounts but i guess ima have to use some Locktite PL roof sealant black polyurethane (pictured below) from Lowes for 6$ a tube unless anyone else has suggestions

btw if u look at lowes.com review of this product, the 2nd review this guy comments about using this for solid motor mounts and praises it. I saw this after the fact of posting this thread.

Came across a few forum threads that recommended this stuff as well. Not sure if anyone on here has experience with it.

when i did my mounts a few years ago it was about 20 bucks..that stuff didnt hold up very well. it cracked and started coming out. If i were to do it again Id use some liquid nails.

U have to clean the surface really well or it will do that. I have window welded mounts that i filled half a decade ago and they are still as good as the day i filled them but now i gotta try something new cuz 20$ isnt in the budget for a semi temporary mount

I tried some liquid nails construction adhesive polyurethane stuff but it was tan color and dried to a brick consistency which i wasnt thrilled about. I may have not gotten the right stuff.

yeah i prepped them correctly. I dont think the tarjack will be stiff enough, but ive read about liquid nails working well.
I bought some new mounts this last time around and cast 86a into them, theyre still holding up pretty good although theres some cracks forming. if i were to do it again, Id use some old mounts and remove all the rubber then cast in 86a with the bolt eyes in the proper position

Do u have a part number/item barcode for the said liquid nails?

I know window weld is 55a stiffness so i figured the roofing stuff would be comparable or at least close to that. They do have higher number tubes Example the roofing pictured above is 30, they have 250,400,700 etc) not sure what the difference is tho

I always take a dremel to all of the rubber or metal that is going to be bonded for 100% thorough surface prep. Hasnt failed me yet

dremeling is one thing i neglected to do, good idea. I degreased/dewaxed. figured the window weld would adhere good but I guess after constant shear force it has its limits.

You must obviously be looking for something cheaper than the mc master urethane which is what I used

I didn't Dremel mine but I did drill several holes in the rubber part of the mount. My thinking was that the urethane would find its way into the hole and would become more solid and less likely to fail or fall out. My mounts are still good after 1 year.

Just trying to help some. I'm not sure if either of those will be liquid enough to accomplish what I did with the urethane. It was extremely runny when first mixed

              Good luck

This needs a title change, I almost perma-banned you because I thought this was spam.

@joey GT-R youre welcome to change it to whatever you feel is appropriate =D

I dont wanna go the MC mastercar route because i need something with less fluidity. Ive done the mc master car urethane before and It was fantastic but not looking to spend 40$ just to do one mount ( all my others are filled with window weld )

The kit filled all the mounts with about 2 oz left, I poured the rest into an ovaltine can, now i have a disk of poly I punch bushings out of for random stuff, made new feet for my house stereos EQ
