advice welcome on a no crank issue

    Hey guys.

I turned my car on and headed to my local Walgreen's; the car did take a bit of cranking than usual to fire up. Once I finished my errand my car did not want to crank over. I gave it a push down a hill and popped the clutch while the transmission was in gear and the engine came alive and I drove home. I wonder guys/gals if perhaps you may know if our cars have fuses or relays that go bad ? Or maybe the starter just gave out after taking so long to turn the engine on?

Maybe the ignition switch. Mine did this about 2 years ago. The fact you jumped it is a little odd.. My switch would work sometimes and sometimes not.

And I would check the battery. The prolonged cranking first may be a failing battery.

Next time, go tap on the starter with a hammer. If it cranks, you have a bad starter.

Well guys, I just went out and bought a new starter. The problem is the same. I'm not mad at all cause now I have a warranty and I'm just flipping the ignition switch over and using a screw driver to engage the starter. I can only guess that some how the power is not going to the solenoid of the starter. Maybe a relay or some other control unit but meh, tax season is upon us, I just joined the federal credit union and I have a manufacture certificate (meaning I pay factory invoice) for any volkswagen auto group vehicle and this car is now officially for sale for just about any amount of $

I revised most of the system and I came to the conclusion that spaghetti monster is real and that it left seed inside my dash.

Turns out a relay was spliced into the ignition key harness I removed it but just a question when I turn the ignition to the "crank position" do I NEED a relay or fuse or any thing ? Meaning Can I get away with just having it with out a clutch switch or relay?
