tricks on removing front hub assembly

wheel is off, hub nut is off, axel is out, caliper is off and the 4 bolts that hold the caliper/hub assembly to the steering knuckle are all out. so everything is off and this mug doesnt wanna budge. i have tryed dead blow mallet to try and free it up, i have tryed pulling on it and i have tryed raming it from the opposite side of the car with a 2x4 against the back.

are there any tricks to getting this off yall know?

It presses in, so a press may help.

my post wasnt very clear i guess. im trying to take the front disks off to gain access to the wheel bearings. i am pretty sure they are not pressed in. driverside came of with a few tugs, passenger side not so much. maybe a comealong is in order

penetrating fluid and multiple soakings man..the little bit of space in that bore allows rust and it seizes pretty good. I had a helluva time with my passenger side but after soaking it good a few taps from the back side and it walked out. then I hit the bore and bearing with sandpaper and antiseeze when reassembling.

Re-install those 4 14mm bolts you took off. Remove the 4 10mm 12 point bolts that screw into the hub/wheel bearing from behind the knuckle.

Its easiest to remove the Axle and then get at them. Remove all 4 then find some similar bolts about 1.5 times as long to screw back in the hub. Evenly tap with a hammer until you walk the hub/bearing assembly from the knuckle. The hub/bearing are pressed together, but the bearing assembly is bolted to the knuckle from the back. So when you hammer evenly across all 4, it'll come out eventually.

Depending on how long its been in there or how much corrosion you have in your area, it can be really simple or very difficult.

Is there a good socket to use to remove those 10mm 12 point bolts

I just used a Craftsman 12pt 10mm 1/2" drive socket. Go with a name brand, high quality socket and you'll be fine. I've never stripped one with this socket.

someone must have replaced them, usually the 12 point sockets are the oddballs because theyre more apt to strip the 6 point heads, craftsman has both types for sale singularly, and usually you get 6 points in a basic socket set

what was a pain, was finding a 17mm 12 point 1/2 inch drive socket for the flywheel bolts. Luckily I found a gearwrench brand socket at advanced.

indeed the flywheel was a lil tricky. i had to use a box wrench with a cheater pipe and a method which involded a three foot crow bar to hold against the teeth on the flywheel in order to get mine loose. but now i have a socket for when its time to reinstall

clever ingenuity there man , what are your plans when it comes time to reinstall? Im going to get this or something similar or make one myself, because the honda one is pretty expensive for such a low use tool.

an impact gun takes them off w/ no problem.
