    oil pan magnet

was reading on super honda, and someone suggested that you put a magnet on your oil pan, and that it would attract all the metal to stick and not circulate. sounds like a good idea right? how would you get the magnet to stay?

a few companies actually have magnetic drain plugs from the factory from what ive seen at good ol jiffy lube.. i usually didnt see that much shit stuck to em, so i dunno.. however, hondas auto tranny plugs have a magnet and whenever i change my tranny fluid theres usually a good amount of gunk on it..

          old hardrives

If you happen to have an old hard drive laying around take it apart there are are least 2 magnets in it. Also these are pretty strong magnets too I have one on my filter and one on my oil plug.

a magnetic drain plug has an extension the tip of the plug is a magnet looks normal except its a magnetic tip, when u unscrew the drain plug all the metal particles in the oil fall and stick on the plug, clean the plug off and you now have a pretty clean particle free pan.

An old hard drive? Ha how creative! Also radio shack sells super strong magnets, but like he said, attaching these would be the challenge. I think simply buying a magnetic plug would be the best option.

Golden Eagle Sell A SS magnetic oil drain plug we use on some of the race motors we build during breakin periods. the NEO magnets used are strong enough to hold rods and LCAs and dont get them around your wallet or your CCs wont work haha

of course but not all of us are up to removing our oil pans, we were kind of looking for a way to attach it externally
