5.7 quarts of oil in my H22A?

Sup CB7 chumps, yeah like the title says. I normally put 4.6 between 4.75 qts of oil for my car (swapped) but today after doing my oil change, I added a full 5 quts (the big Mobil 1 container) and it was only up to the half way line between the two holes on the dipstick. So I pour in another .7 qts and that made it perfectly right at the top dot on the DS. I can see I will need a new oil pan gasket and pan soon, but there was never any oil drip spots anywhere i park. Its not dripping at all, but 5.7, thats a lot of oil. Maybe because i used a different filter this time, maybe? I noramlly use Honda OEM, but today i switch to the Mobil 1 oil filter. Anyways, what do your h22 usual takes?

just wondering. after adding the recommended amount of oil, did you start the engine up and let it run for about 20 seconds so the oil could circulate through the engine block? then shut it down and then recheck the dipstick? if you used the same type size of filter, it wouldn't matter and a leaky pan/gasket wouldn't leak that much that fast. double check to make sure your oil filter is on tight. if you look at your filter while the engine is running like you should, you'll know if its leaking or not. if it is, it usually means the old gasket is still up there between the new oil filter gasket.

Yup. I did as I always have, pour 4 qts in then start, run for 1 min, then took off, wait 10 mins (I just like to give it more time for the oil to settle in the pan) then check level. 1st 4 qts, level under lower dot. there is no leaking from my oil filter, old gasket was still on old filter. well I check it this morning before I left home and it was fine. No leakage. But still 5.7 in in there, somewhere?

thanks for all of your replies.
