    Brake pedal to the floor

Trying to help my friend out with her EK. This is where she's at. Any insight would be awesome.

"A couple of months ago when I got my car, I knew it had very mushy brakes. It got worse, and finally I had the time to fix it these past few days. Yeah- It's still not fixed.

First we bled the brakes, had to do it a few times, as the brake fluid was extremely dark (It looked like cola. Yuck.), and after we had successfully bled them the first time, the brakes had no change. We re-bled them, nothing. Checked the brake booster, all checked out (No leaks, operating fine, etc.). Tonight we just replaced the Master, and... Nothing. Brakes are excellent until we start the car. We bled it once, started the car, straight to the floor and makes a slight clicking noise (?) when I press the brakes. So, we let it sit for awhile and re-bled it. While more air came out after letting it sit, we bled it to the point of no more air coming out... But still, nothing.

Have not re-checked the air booster since last night, but I'm almost 100% positive that it's not it. Any suggestions/thoughts?"

Air is getting in somewhere, OR the "New" Master cylinder is faulty.

If the pedal drops to the floor either air is still in the system or, the Master cylinder is bypassing.

A "Finished" project car is never finished until its been sold.

If at first you don't succeed, Try again. Don't give up too easily, persistance pays off in the end.

Excuse my ignorance, but does it have rear drum brakes? If so, check that they are adjusted correctly. If the self adjusters are not doing so a lot of fluid can be going to move the pistons to get the shoes close to the drums.
