    Transmission Reverse problem

Okay I am in no position to afford a new tranny at this time, but here is my problem.
When the car is cold and I shift into reverse it seems not to "sit" in gear and instead grinds into gear. When warmed up at operating temp it shifts fine into reverse. ( I actually last night when it went in fine backed up in a parking lot to listen for any problems and I heard nothing unusual
Forward gears work fine and on the dipstick there is no sign of shavings i'm only 3k into my tranny fluid change so I would say i'm far from another change. Now sunday 2 weeks ago it didn't go fully into first and gave me revs upward of 4k to move slowly, but after a restart it worked fine.

When you replaced the tranny fluid, did you use OEM Honda MTF?

Why would you put MTF in an AT car?

OP, how are you checking your fluid level? Sounds like a torque converter problem or one of the many internal clutches are failing.

Yes I use all Honda fluids in my Cb. I changed it just recently check the level's every week as well. I have talked to alot of people and they all see the symptom when a car is hot and warmed up instead of cold. I guess it could be the internals that my best guess it's just annoying i'm ending up in neutral rolling my car back out of my parking spot so I can skip using the reverse gear when the car is warming up because that clunk sounds bad and it makes the car jump really bad. I am just trying to keep the tranny as long as possible i'm just trying to save my reverse gear from going out any time soon

maybe the solenoids do not work very well when cold?

The problem is.........your car is tired of being an automatic and is protesting for a manual transmission.

Sounds to me like the transmission is nearing the end of it's life. I would start looking into the cost of a junkyard transmission just to get an idea, then take the money it would cost and put it aside. Just in case.
