    No VTEC after tranny swap

I swapped the p2t4 this weekend. Car seems to run rich some then lean some.

After the car is warm. When I try to get VTEC to engage it won't. Light came on for two days. Yesterday I took the vtec solenoid off expecting the screen to be dirty. It was clean.
So yesterday. I disabled my vtec oil pressure switch. No cel but still no vtec.

This only started happening after the swap. Before the swap All seemed good.

Car, 91 accord LX JDM 96 obd 2 converted to OBD1, P28 hondata s300, LC-1 wideband. Vtec worked fine before the tranny swap.

I thought the s300 stored the codes, but there are no fault codes on the ecu, or when I jump it.

Tomorrow I will use my laptop on the drive in and enable the vtec oil pressure switch. So I can have the laptop connected when the code hits.

Yes the VSS is working, oil level is good, OIl is castrol in the gold jug 10-30 K&n oil filter maybe 1500 on this oil change. oil pan is not dented.

Any ideas or something I might have missed.

it may sound dumb but maybe the vtec wire came lose behind the ecu or its not pushed in all the way. Just a suggestion

Thanks I didn't think about that but you could be right. If not there maybe somewhere else.

So the CEL was for the vtec pressure switch/sensor? Have you checked the plug on it?

I don't know for sure because It won't pull any codes and there weren't any stored on the s300. But when I disabled the vtec oil pressure switch it doesn't throw the code.
When it would throw the code was at about 5100 that is the top of my vtec engagement.

From my VERY limited knowledge on VTEC, the switch opens or closes depending on oil pressure. So I would assume you have low oil pressure, the switch is damaged/faulty, or you need to check the wiring for the switch.

Yes thats my understanding as well. Which leaves me with low oil pressure, or hopefully a pulled out wire or a short somewhere.

Would low oil pressure possibly be the switch on the back of the block?

              steve

Come to think of it. I did hit that switch a little bit when I was removing the intermediate shaft.

Thanks for both or your help.

The wire on the back of the block is for the oil pressure sensor, IIRC the wire sends a signal to the cluster and will light up the oil light if the oil pressure gets low.

                  Code 21. Vtec spool error.
That was the error this morning same place 5100. I'm a little confused bc I only get it when the vtec oil pressure sensor is enabled. And get nothing when it's not.
But either way I get no vtec.

I'm thinking this is a wiring problem or possibly a bad vtec solenoid

                  other thoughts ?

If you get your vtec solenoid wire between the tranny and the engine.

I bet that SHIT won't work. Just like mine.

Yeah no shit. That seems to be it. Too late to test drive or hook up the vtec oil sensor. But I disabled it and will report back in the am.

seems like vtec is complicated or a sophisticated sensitive matter haven't had the luxury yet to try vtec

Yep it works. I will go over everything this weekend and make sure nothing else is pinched between the tranny and engine
