    Flywheel Options

    So this week I am very limited on time to do the clutch and transmission swap. I have the clutch and throwout bearing ordered and on it's way. Now I need to figure out what to do with the flywheel. I called one shop and they said $75. At this point if all of the other shops are like this I have found new flywheels cheaper but I am unsure of the quality such as this one.

    Or some of the flywheels from RockAuto made by LUK, Sachs, and Rhinopac. Are these flywheels good for my M2S4 swap?

    I will start calling more shops on Monday, but like I said I have limited time so getting this info now would be nice. Or if some of you WA members around 98033 know of any shops that do these quality jobs for ~$30 I have read about please tell me.

    If you're gonna direct a question to Washington members, you should really ask in the regional section. You'll probably get more answers.

      Well it's if by chance WA members are reading this thread but yeah I am more likely going to get a better answer about the shops from there.

        If you are short on time order a new flywheel, any new flywheel should be just as good as the factory one from RockAuto.com, if you have time to have the vehicle down then remove and inspect the flywheel. If the flywheel is beyond service limits you need to replace it, if not you can resurface it for around $25 at O'rileys.

          They are only 50 new. In my opinion I wouldn't resurface a flywheel when for just 25 dollars more you can get a brand new one. As the pilot bearings are in the flyhweel.

            I will have a different car this week, a Wrangler with the top off, this should be a fun week. Anyways would O'rileys know if the flywheel is out of spec or do I need to go to a Honda machine shop to check it, and anything I should know about reinstallation like not to touch the friction surface with bare hands or anything else like that?

              You can touch the friction surface with bare hands. As long as your bare hands are free of any oil or grease. But it's probably best to wear gloves as hands have greese on them by nature. And just go to orielly and get a new flywheel it's only 25 bucks more and then you don't have to worry about taking things apart twice. As the pilot bearing is in the flywheel and IMO should be replaced everytime you do a clutch.

                Limited on money and this is only temporary, I should have a new flywheel and everything when I do the engine swap in hopefully by the end of the year.

                  Well I just bought the O'rileys 94 Prelude flywheel for $60 with life-time warranty. Do I need to us any brake cleaner or anything else like that?

                    You do know that you need a prelude pressure plate too right? Look at the clutch kit differences for diameter of friction surface on the flywheel.

                    Yes you need to use brake cleaner on the flywheel, clutch pack, and the pressure plate to remove anticorrosion oil.

                    Also you need moly lube for the throw out bearing and fork.

                      Wildbill. normally I agree with what you say. However in this case the f22 and h22 flywheels are the same.
                      You can use an accord or a prelude clutch.

                          You are correct. Just the clutch diameter is 1/4" difference between the two and I thought the flywheel was different but they are the same part number.

                            I think it's 225 for Accord and 219 for Prelude, anyways I ordered Prelude parts.
