    bad motor mount maybe?

hey guy I need some advice when i did my motor swap ( which was last summer) i put brand new Innovative Mounts. I just started to drive the car everyday and it feels like a have a bad rear mount. so i took a look at it and it looks fine all the bolts are nice and tight. Its driving me crazy, i think its 1 of 2 things. 1. i got a bad motor mount from the beging or 2. when i was buying the motor mount they had three different types of mounts for cb's 3 bolt short style ( which i herd are for Lx MT) and there a 4 bolt tall style ( which are for EX MT) i have a MT ex model so i ordered the 4 bolt style. Is what I herd correct Im starting to think i have the wrong rear mount. any advice will help

Did you check for what would look like cracks in the rubber . If it is separating then it will allow for extra movement . As long as the bolts are in all the way and tight i don't think there is a problem with them. Also it could be the front. If the front or back go bad it will allow for same direction of movement .

ya i checked for cracks none that i could see its a lil tough with the intake manifold in the way. i put a new front mount but its a stock mount from auto zone you think that could be a problem because it isn't polyurethane

Quit buying Valuecraft or Duralast branded items and pay for VDP items, they come from OEM vendors and are anything but crap. You will have to wait 2-3 business days to get it but you can't beat their lifetime warranty on vendor direct parts. You can't say AutoZone's stuff is crap if you chose to buy the crap brand that is on the shelf and not the more expensive ones you have to order. What you can say is "I went to AutoZone and chose to buy crap even though I had the option to spend more money on actual OEM replacement parts".

Just remove the air duct, push forcefully with your hand on the rear of the tranny if the tranny clearly shakes it means the rear mount has rips on it or is of bad quality ...... also notice you can't see the rear mount 360 degrees unless you remove a lot of stuff.

I bought one yesterday because mine is 360 torn, I put some epoxy and duct tape but that didn't work and the engine would shake violently when I put Reverse, mine is automatic and I guess because I ignored it, I am having recently other serious problems .... my power steering system is having issues (weird sounds) and my manifold has vacuum leaks. My CV boots are torn too now.

                never ignore an engine mount.

Perfect example of caveat emptor. Let the buyer beware. If you buy VDP items from AutoZone they are from the same OEM vendors as Honda but cost less and come with a lifetime warranty. Honda even orders parts for you as well, they don't stock much more than basic items for our cars anymore.

My point is that you wanted something right now, so you bought it and you bought it knowing it was most likely of lesser quality as you had choices of higher quality more expensive items but chose to forgo them in lieu of convenience. Only parts stores aren't like corner stores, they charge you less for convenience items to make the customer happy right then and there. What you save in cost you lose in time by choosing to use the cheapest most available item off the shelf. In that sense you got what you paid for. It's not AutoZone's fault you chose to be cheap and impatient.

EDIT: Back on topic. Even if you bought a Honda rubber front torque mount it would still be too soft because all of the other mounts are poly.

                  Have you seen this?

learn from me. I bought a full set of mounts off ebay and full engine movement for the past 3 years... and want to atleast stiffin my rear with the 5 speed not really concerned about the vibration (I'm already used to it with the current mount) A few J.y cars have good ones im just scared the engine will fall back on me is that true or will the front mount hold it and for the 5 speed swap can I keep the auto bracket or do I need the parts for the 5 speed?

I was just getting at the fact that price reflects quality, but AutoZone can also get mounts from the manufacturer for slightly cheaper than the dealership. I also wanted to point you to the solid mount thread. Have you thought of poly filled mounts? I did mine on the LX and they are SOLID.

Autozone and kregan sell the aame brand motor mounts....anchor brand.

Pull ebrake up hard....have buddy put it in reverse while holding firmly on brake and press on the gas. While you are in the engine bay on the side watch thagt rear mount. If its broken you will see it when the motor lifts.

Hold the gas pedal for amax of 4 seconds and then put it in neutral to cool down the torque converter.
What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.

You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!

That is not true either, some are anchor brand some are DEA, and there is a 3rd brand that is not coming to mind at the moment. But the VDP comes from the manufacturing warehouse of OEM suppliers like Beck/Arnley who is who Honda orders through. This is on top of offering the cheapo Valucraft brand that I wouldn't trust at all and it is made by a company just for autozone but obviously is of poor quality.

Honda mounts are basically Beck/Arnley that have been re-bagged.

Actually you don't even need to use the gas pedal, just have your buddy shift from D4 to N to R and you will see the movement.
