    sealant question

so, i think i have tracked down the source of my latest transmission leak. im pretty sure its the top solenoid because fluid keeps pooling up around it after i go for a drive. my question is would it be ok to use clear rtv sealant to seal it up? this would just be temporary until i either buy a new gasket or do my 5 speed swap

It may work, may not. I personally NEVER use RTV unless its somewhere Honda says to use RTV (such as around the cam on the VC gasket). With this gasket, if it leaves the gasket space(verysmall) and gets in the ATF passage it will plug or restric it or travel into the transmission or solenoid. In any case not a good thing. Those solenoid gaskets also have filter screen that should preferebly also be kept in place to protect the solenoid and transmission.

Any auto parts store can cut you the hose, I would go to Honda for the gasket and screen.

I do believe thats also an investment at the honda dealer. Though try just replacing the rubber first.
