I've been following cloudasc's DIY repair thread for TCUs and noted the resistors problem area for tcus for the cb7. I wanted some feed back on this resistor: is this what a damaged resistor looks like? How would I remove these white tab hold things (Pic 2), as they don't look the same as they do in cloudascs' tcu. Do I break them off?

Looks like it was reworked once already. If that is the case inspect the solenoids, it will burn again if the solenoids have too much resistance.1993 SE Coupe MRT - 1992 LX Sedan MRT

Just wanted to update this thread with my progress.
I only replaced the three most right capacitors, and I've never had a problem being stuck in second gear again! It was difficult removing the original capacitors because I couldn't get the old solder to adhere to the de-soldering braid.

From the reports I've seen, the lower ones when they go out or leak they cause the resistor(s) to burn, and a code 0 (or no code, but sport light/d4 light is always on). The upper ones when they leak cause the 4-5+ codes to come on suddenly typically. When your in there once, might as well take care of the rest, as they are all doomed someday; an ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure as they say, but it's not like it's THAT difficult of a job to peel the carpet up and remove some screws in the future.
Glad to hear your issue is resolved, and the DIY was of benefit
