My Auto to 5 Speed Conversion

Hey guys, I'm back and better than ever... well at least my car is anyways. I just got done with the 5 speed swap for my wagon. I used the EXP Performance 5 speed conversion mounts, they worked great but just some heads up they can be hard to install.
Anyways. Here's a list of the rest that I did to it,

-New OEM spec Exedy Clutch kit ~ $125
-New flywheel OEM spec ~ $45
    -H23 Tranmsmission ~ $80
-New Slave and Master Cylinder ~ $40
-OEM clutch lines and clutch dapener ~ Don't remember the cost

That's just the most notable things.

The swap was pretty straight forward except for a few mistakes here and there. Took me 2 or 3 days. About 10-20 hours.

    A few pics I have.

Jacks for the job, bought at Harbor Freight,

Auto removed, was not hard except for the fact the transmission jack was not low enough so I had to shove it off,

Manual being installed. This was probably the most bothersome part, there were clearance issues with the the clutch lines and such. This is why I think some opted to install it from above.

Same as above. I had trouble getting it mounted straight on.

5 Speed conversion mounts from EXP Performance. Worked wonderfully but installation was a pain for the rear and transmission mount, for some reason the bolt wouldn't thread on the transmission side and with the rear mount you have to install the mount BEFORE you install the T-bracket. I was able to install the mount after I installed the T-bracket but let me tell you it was not easy.

The mounts did make the car more stable around corners.

Exedy clutch kit. Came with a new pressure plate and throw out bearing. It grabs nice,

Video of a pull at 3/4 throttle and 4.5k shifts.

Here's a video of me driving it and some monologue,

No one cares I guess. This swap was awesome, so glad I did it. It was worth it.

Cool! Thanks for sharing, it's motivating to see results that have good outcomes with these swaps.

Thread needs more photos of the swap and more than a dark video. Just my opinion.

Also you say you made mistakes, but don't share them. Add content to the thread and it will be a better thread. I was confused after opening the thread because I was expecting information rather than "hey look what I did".

You're right. I added some pics and another video.

Much better thread now. Got any info/pics on the interior swap too? Tips for the stick and pedal conversion maybe? Any wiring tips? Any plan to swap your cluster to a M/T one? Did you use the throw out bearing from the clutch kit? Also can I see a photo of your bay now that you have the transmission in?

Dude, I care. I'm gonna be doing this pretty soon and I'm stoked! I can't wait to get rid of that crappy automatic. Great inspiration.

I've always wondered why this wasn't done more, on other affirms, it seems like a daily thing.

Don't say that! He knows what he's doing, he read it somewhere!

His $125 Exedy clutch and $45 flywheel are made of anti glazing materials and he doesn't have to worry about doing a proper break-in....... at least that's what he read on H-T anyway.

I put a good 300 miles on it before I filmed that.

With the interior everything swapped right in, no need to have the MT center console, just the shift boot and shifter with linkages.
Make sure you have all the bushings for that.

The brake pedal was an easy swap, all you had to do was removed the auto and replace it with the manual. Some recommended you remove the entire assembly in order to re attach the MT brake pedal spring but this is not necessary and I found it almost impossible. Instead all you have to do is remove the brake pedal sensor and use some needle nose pliers...

I do not plan to swap the gauge cluster.

I used the Exedy throw out bearing that came with the kit.

My internet is down at my house so pics won't be up till later on.
