    If you blow it out prior to removal of spark plugs, it will not affect reading of compression.
    If your oil control rings are allowing excess oil in combustion chamber, you'll see good compression test result and high oil consumption.

    I know. I did not blow it out prior to checking compression, that is why I was concerned that it did affect the compression readings.

      A table spoon or two of oil will have effect on readings.

        Just read your thread. I should have searched first, I know I've seen that before. Unfortunately sounds exactly like what is going on. I rescued the body first (Rescuing Ruby), now I have to deal with the engine. I may just be better off cleaning up/servicing the lower mileage engine I have and swapping it. Do I dare try a heavy duty engine cleaner, what have I got to lose at this point?
